Skived Fins
Skiving is to use special mould to cut part of the extrusions into thin fins. Skived fin could be much thinner or higher density than that of extruded fins. Compared to soldered fins, the contact between skived fins and base plate depends on no thermal interface materials, which means no soldering thermal resistance between fins and base plate, moreover, the tooling cost of skived fins is much lower than that of soldered fins. The disadvantage of skiving is higher machining cost and lower production efficiency.
